Toyota Hybrid X
The car of the future is finally here. Toyota Motors Company has
developed a concept car, straight out vehicle from some "manga"
(Japanese comic books) characters. It uses a lot of glass, interconnecting
windshields, intelligent looking headlights and peculiar looking
tail lights while all aspects of the car run in counter with the
existing hauler on the road.

This is a total shift from what has been
a reflection of a prototype of things to come. Many may call
this as something of a joke, but the truth is it embodies
all the proponents and amenities of a truly modern transport.

This unique shaped vehicle is the Toyota hybrid X concept car that
comes powered by the reliable "Hybrid Synergy Drive" designed
to be fuel efficient, eco-friendly, powerful and yet very sporty.
This is intended as a family car with an overall length equal to
177 inches and a wheelbase of 110 inches and 20 inch alloy wheels
for added road stability while cornering at high speed.
It has a rear-hinged passenger door that upon opening responds
to just a touch of a button. The interior has a perfume dispenser
that gives a gentle and relaxing scent, a sophisticated lighting
system and a mural painted on the inside door panel.
The Hybrid X is a manifestation of Toyota's thrust towards the
design philosophies of the J-Factor and Vibrant Clarity. J-Factor
deals with the desire for global acceptance of Japanese-inspired
designs and cultural form while Vibrant Clarity is the design language
used to emulate the J-Factor.
Designers hope that the Vibrant Clarity theory will govern future
vehicle shapes that are completely original in identity and emotional
intensity that at a mere glimpse identifies the vehicle as Toyota-made.
In car design language, the concept X is the radical fusion of
brute strength, light appeal and emotional involvement as clearly
expressed in the out-of-this-world body shape of the car. There
is also a direct link between the exterior and interior because
of the generous glass panels that encompass the closed space which
tends to make the outside world part of the interior and provide
a feeling of unlimited space.
Interior designer Laurent Bouzige, says: "Hybrid X is conceived
as a multi-sensory experience. There is a formal style in the shape
of the vehicle and the material used, but every other reaction is
linked to the passenger's senses of sound, smell, sight and touch
through interactive ambience"
The exterior treatment of the car is best expressed by the 'U'
shape formed as a result of the massive upper glass area and the
structural crisscrossing A and C pillars that form a huge X when
viewed from the top. The U-shaped pillars dictated the general shape
of the Hybrid X and sub-consciously help attain aerodynamic qualities
further made possible by the smooth lines of the integrated rear
spoiler.
On the driver's side, the Hybrid X is a sight to behold. The driver
can set the atmosphere within an interface that controls the senses
and Led lighting system that provides a series of illumination and
varying harmony depending on the type of music played.
The steering pad has a central screen that relays vital energy
information such as fuel consumption, gear in use, outside temperature
and a Bluetooth connection supplied by a second screen. Still a
third touch screen within driver's reach controls the audio system,
the lighting operation and air-conditioning system that is all available
just by a light touch of the steering pad.
