Barabus
TKR
Cars running at blinding speed never fail to fascinate men. That
is why more and more enthusiasts are trying to venture into this
arena to savor, even in a few fleeting months, how it feels to be
on top of the world.
 |
The competition ensues, we have the Lamborghini,
the Ferrari, then Koenigsegg CCX, the Bugatti Veyron and lately
the Barabus TKR, but for how long?
|
With the way things are going, definitely some other well-made
plans are now in the works waiting for the right time to emerge.
The darling of the press for the moment is the Barabus TKR, which
according to company press release can accelerate from standstill
to 60 miles in just 1.67 seconds and achieve a maximum cruising
speed of 270 mph. Awesome if it can be described by words.
This is the fastest supercar in the world or a rear-wheel driven
rocketship on the road. The Barabus TKR is no menial engineering
feat for it took its designers ten long years to conceptualize and
build it. And finally it's on display at the famed British Motor
Show in London.
Barabus Sportscar Limited is a little-known specialty engine and
vehicle manufacturer, but with the launching of the TKR all that
has changed. Barabus envisioned for the TKR to compete with the
best in the world in terms of speed, handling capabilities and even
with the most luxurious grand touring cars while also enjoying a
distinctly European driving touch for the select few who can afford
it.
This is so, because Barabus intends to manufacture 300 to 400 units
within the three-year period that are to be sold worldwide through
its sanctioned dealers.
The heart of the TKR is a pulsating twin turbocharged 6.0 liter,
V8 aluminum block engine that produces 1,005 horsepower. The carbon-fiber
bodied TKR will be manufactured by Barabus' facility in Colonella,
Italy while the powertrain, though designed by Barabus, will be
re-engineered in the United Kingdom.
The car is a true-blooded Italian super car but it conforms along
the philosophy of Barabus "best in practice" where it
pulls together all the superior components around the globe and
incorporates it into the TKR to get the best result possible. True
to its word, Barabus uses ceramic brakes and other high-technology
pieces from companies in and around Italy.
Aside from the body, the chassis is also made of carbon-fiber;
a design conceived straight from the racetrack. The suspension system
is fully independent with unequal length "A" arms and
high-tech components are used all over.
A Barabus Electromech control system computer takes over engine
management; the ignition system is the integrated coil-on-plug type
that has a longitudinally mounted transaxle together with a Barabus
engineered bell housing which transfers power to the wheels, while
an improved duct provides an airway to cool the engine.
The interior as well complements the exterior aesthetics. Upholstery
is made of the finest leather and suede plus accents are of brushed
aluminum or carbon fiber and painted matching body color. It has
an intelligent air-conditioning system that responds automatically
to passenger needs; a top of the line audio system and all other
amenities that makes the TKR a truly beguiling super car.
