Concept Cars
Concept cars have long tickled the fancy of auto
lovers worldwide. Concept cars, as many already know, may be either
completely computerized versions of a new and exciting automobile
or a working prototype.
 |
For the purposes of our website, we prefer
future concept cars that are actually are still on the drawing
board and part of the imagination of what the future holds.
|
Concept cars, by vary nature may never make it to the showroom
floors as actual production vehicles. Automakers will spend several
million dollars on a concept for a future car in order to display
the vehicle and gauge public reaction.
If public reaction is strong enough to a particular concept car,
then the manufacturer may think long and hard about putting out
some vehicles to test the market. If the auto enthusiasts' reactions
are anything but enthusiastic chances are that the concept car will
be put on the shelf in favor of another concept that is already
on the drawing boards.
But, the wonderful thing about concept cars, for the most part
is the coolness factor. There is a certain unmistakable bravado
among the automobile manufacturers when it comes to who can put
out the coolest future car.
Automakers compete with their concept cars on both the design of
the vehicles and technology that goes into the vehicles. Whether
it's the sleek, powerful and aggressive design of a concept sports
car or the leading edge technology of a hydrogen vehicle or even
advanced safety features of a smart car, the automakers compete
to see who can one-up the other.

The concept of competition is the driving force among the
concept cars. Whether we are talking about prototypes or
customized vehicles like the Ford Shelby, GM Ecojet, Audi
RSQ or Mazda Nagare, the auto manufacturers are out for
blood when they design and produce vehicles the public wants
to buy.
And then there is the element of pride. Company pride propels
the designers and engineers to new levels of visual and
functional excitement in their concept cars. Nothing is
as rewarding as showing off a brand new concept car to the
International North American Auto Show in Detroit and have
a bunch of ooh-ing and ah-ing fans asking when they can
buy the automobile.
|
So, short of going to one of the many auto shows around the world
in Detroit, Los Angeles, Paris or Geneva, we bring the concept cars
to you right here for your viewing pleasure. Sit back, relax and
take the concept cars listed here on a test drive of your own. Let
your imagination run wild as to what you would do if you actually
owned one of these automobiles.
